Junior Band

The Junior band sessions are led by Jackie Adams. Her lively and charismatic personality ensures that practices are not only informative and productive but also lively and fun – something especially important for engaging the interest of our younger members. The practices provide the opportunity to learn in a group, make new friends, and most importantly have fun making music.

As well as playing at local Fetes, the Junior Band now features regularly in the senior band concerts. Players are trained in solo, quartet and ensemble work and compete in competitions. As well as winning awards, we consider that the competitions are a major element in their development as confident and skilled players.

We have a mix of adult learners and children in our Junior band. Children can start learning at any age above 5 years old. The cost is £1.00 per week and this includes the provision of a brass instrument of your choice (subject to availability).

Gillingham Junior band is split into two levels: Beginners and Intermediate. The beginners’ session takes place on Monday evenings at 6.00pm. Intermediate sessions take place on a Wednesday evening at 7.00pm.

If you are interested in joining the Junior band, or even if you would just like to come along to listen, then please contact us.
