Concert With Guest Soloist Brett Baker
Friday, May 8th, 2009
On the 4th of April at Gillingham School, The band with Guest soloist Brett Baker played to a packed audience. The concert sponsored by Murray Hawkins of the Winning Smiles was a great Success.
The band played a varied program which included some very challenging music such as Dances Polovtsiennes however none of the bands pieces matched the difficulty set by Brett.
He started with Concerto for Trombone written by Darrol Barry, this was the world premiere of this piece of music followed with- By The Time I Get To Phoneix, LondonderyAir, and Feeling Good. To wash it all down with at the end of the concert he finished with Fantastic Polka.
We would like to thank Rath Trombones for Sponsoring Brett.
The band enjoyed having Brett as a guest soloist, he was not only a fantastic trombone player but a very nice person as well. We hope he will return to Gillingham in the near future.
For this concert we had not one guest trombone player but two.
Thank you Mike for helping us out on second trombone
Brett also played a duet called Duet For Two Cats with our Principal Cornet Liam Carey.
